Rebuilding after a disaster

Seeing the floods in FL this morning reminds me of how far AL still has to go to recover from the April, 2011 tornados. Most communities wanted to rebuild sustainably but have since given up because of the overwhelming reality of all that goes in to rebuilding a whole city. There’s so much to be done that engaging those of us that could help with design and planning aspects that would positively impact their future economic opportunities seems like one more thing to deal with, thereby leaving these critical considerations to fall by the wayside. devastating alabama tornados

My vision for Collaborative Communities – the blog

Today the blogging commences. After many pushes from those that love and admire me, here are my my words in print.

This is a forum for me to share my thoughts and insights into sustainability, the built environment and how the little part of the world that we experience every day affects us psychologically. I see how people discount the impact our built and natural environment had on us every day and it breaks my heart. I know that I have a positive contribution to make, that I have so much to give…but know that it takes someone to see value in what I do and want what I have to offer in order to be able to see my aspirations realized. I hope that this forum will serve as a conduit for you to know me and see that value.
